Regenerative Medicine

Having persistent lower back pain can significantly affect your quality of life. At the Ozark Orthopaedics Spine Center, we have doctors who specialize in life-changing regenerative medicine that can help reduce your inflammation and help you get back to the activities you love.

What is Regenerative Medicine?

Regenerative medicine is a modern, minimally-invasive treatment that utilizes the body’s natural healing process to rebuild damaged tissues, heal injuries, or eliminate pain.

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatment is an example of regenerative medicine. PRP can benefit patients with spinal conditions, arthritis, and orthopaedic ligament/tendon sprains and tears.

In PRP therapy, the patient’s own concentration of platelets is injected into the damaged ligaments, tendons, and joints to promote tissue repair and healing. The effectiveness of PRP is due to its growth and healing factors, which means an injured patient can get back to its feet faster than it would usually take.

Although regenerative medicine treatments such as PRP may require you to stay off your feet for about a week, many patients report a significant reduction in pain within 6 to 12 months.

Are there side effects of Regenerative Medicine?

Regenerative medicine treatments such as PRP can have side effects. However, since the treatment uses the patient’s own platelets there are very few side effects. These may include pain at the injection site, mild nausea, and dizziness.
